Rubi McGrory is a candidate for a Master's of Fine Arts from
Savannah College of Art and Design. She holds a Bachelor's of
Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Connecticut.
Between the two degrees, Rubi had a career as a chef on private
yachts. She worked for discerning clients all over the world, taking
her art with her everywhere she went.
And everywhere she went people said "You are so creative, I
could never be creative like that."
To which Rubi replied,"Baloney! Everyone is creative. You are
creative, you just don't know it." And then she would take them
under her wing and soon the table was covered with art supplies
and people were making: drawings, candles, art, handbags,
postcards, poems, private journals, songs...
And it was fun! There were no excruciating tasks or chores on this
path to creativity, just fun: adults playing and learning how to tap
into their rich inner resources of creativity.
For over 10 years Rubi has facilitated creative and art days all
over the world, from hotel rooms in Dubrovnik to estates on Long
Island Sound to the aft deck of a yacht in Indonesia.
Rubi also teaches contemporary crafts and has appeared on
HGTV talking about her work.
When Rubi is not facilitating creativity retreats, she will be either
stitching, writing and researching or, an ordained minister, she
may be performing a wedding ceremony.
